    Input Financing Questions, Answered

Ag input finance has its own language. Here is how input financing works, what it costs a retailer, and where Flatland Capital fits in the channel.

    What is input financing?

Input financing, also called ag input finance, is credit extended to a farmer to buy crop inputs such as seed, fertilizer, chemicals, and other production supplies from an ag retailer. Repayment is aligned to the crop cycle, so the farmer pays after harvest instead of at the counter.

How is an input loan different from an operating loan?

An operating loan comes from a bank or farm credit lender and covers broad operating expenses, usually with full financial underwriting and a lien on the operation. An input loan is purchase-specific, underwritten faster, and issued at the point of sale through the retailer, which keeps the retailer's sale from stalling while credit is arranged.

How much input financing can a farmer get with a FICO score alone?

Flatland Capital approves ag input financing up to $150,000 on FICO score alone, with no tax returns, balance sheets, or Schedule F. Requests above $150,000 move to a fully documented program at any requested amount.

Are UCC filings required on input loans?

No UCC filings are required on input loans under $500,000, which keeps the farmer's other lending relationships undisturbed.

Can input financing be white-labeled under our retail brand?

Yes. Every input finance program can run under your retail brand from application through repayment, or stay under the Flatland Capital brand, whichever fits your business.

Who does Flatland Capital work with?

Ag retailers, distributors, and input manufacturers across the United States. We handle the credit engine, funding, and compliance so your team stays focused on selling inputs.
